It’s just a couple weeks until Mother’s Day! I hope that you started thinking about how you might pamper your wife, and I have some really great Mother’s Day gift ideas. I’ll also be posting some really great gifts for mothers/grandmothers, but this is focused on spoiling that wonderful woman you married. She may not be your mother, but she is the mother of your children, the greatest joys of your life! My list is organized in order of cost, so whether you need some free ideas or a splurge, I’ve got you covered.
Coupons for Mom – Give your wife the gift of some chores and pampering done by you and the kids (if they’re old enough). Create your own or try these free ones from Clementine Creative. A chance to cash in these coupons at a later time is excitement enough for most busy moms!
Breakfast in Bed – I’m putting this in the free category, because you probably have some things lying around the house to make this happen. If you’re reading this the night before Mother’s Day, I guarantee you can make this happen. It doesn’t have to be the works (although that’s yummy too) ; even a bowl of cereal and some coffee would bring a smile to her face!
Sleeping In/Alone Time – This is one of the best free gifts you can give your wife on Mother’s Day. I don’t need to go into much detail here, except it will start the day on a really happy, positive tone.
Handmade Token of Love from the Kids – Be sure to get the kids involved. Even if they are very little, find a way to include them in the day. Homemade cards, notes or artwork are all free, but will feel special, especially if combined with the previously mentioned treats. Here are 16 handmade gift ideas.
Thoughtful Cards – A thoughtful card from you will make your wife feel special. Be sure to add a personal message to your card to make it even more meaningful. Cards from the kids are great too. If you children are older, take them to the store and allow them to choose their own cards.
Photo Album – For under $5, you could put together a small photo album for your wife. The dollar store sells small photo albums, and you can print photos at a local CVS or Walmart for very cheap. Go through your camera card or phone (or your wife’s secretly), and gather some of your favorite photos of the last year or two. Your wife can keep this album in her purse or on her desk.
Bottle of Wine – You can find a decent bottle of wine for your wife to enjoy for under $10. Here are some ideas if you need some! Even better, put the kids to bed on Mother’s Day, and pour her a glass!
A Journal – This One Line a Day Journal is a great way for moms to jot special things that happen each day. I have not been as diligent with it as I would like, but I love looking back at the notes I write. Here’s another great blank journal that would be great for any mom who likes to write and reflect.
Birthstone Necklace – These birthstone discs from Posh Mommy are a little pricey, but completely worth it! I have one of these for each of my daughters, courtesy of my hubby. I love how they look, and I was very surprised each time I received these.
Spa Day – Plan some time for your wife to get away and unwind. Does she like a massage? Maybe she would prefer a manicure and a pedicure? Whatever she might like, book some time for her to do it. If you don’t know when to book it for, get a gift certificate and let her decide. If you aren’t sure of which local spa to choose, ask some of her friends, they will know!!
“Mommy’s Favorites” Basket – A basket of all your wife’s favorites would be the ultimate Mother’s Day gift! What are her favorite foods? What is her favorite drink? A basket filled with her favorite wine, snacks, maybe a gift certificate to a favorite restaurant, a new pair of yoga pants or a graphic tee, the possibilities are endless!
There you have it! Mother’s Day gifts for your wife that she will really love! Husbands – spoil your wives, they birthed your precious children. Wives, forward this to your husbands immediately! Or, fill out this really great note I found on Pinterest and slip it to your husband, lol!
