Happy Friday everyone! I’m doing my first weigh-in today since deciding to only step on the scale once a week. You can read more of my goals and also more about my first month of living the low carb life. The most important thing for me in this lifestyle change has been having foods available that fit my plan. Here are some of my favorite low carb products that I’m loving right now! I’ve also included my grocery list that you can print for yourself.
Guess what? You will at some point want to make a pizza while you are living this low carb lifestyle, and this ingredient will do just the trick! I haven’t attempted a cauliflower crust pizza yet, but I definitely plan on trying one soon. However, I have made a fat head pizza crust using almond flour, and it is AMAZING!! Here is the recipe I used for the crust, and then I added low carb pizza sauce, mozzarella and basil. The possibilities are endless with this crust, so definitely stock up on this product! This link is for a 4-pack, so if you’re committed to this lifestyle, it’s a good deal.
I still love to make smoothies, and this is a great addition to any smoothie. The health benefits are endless, but my favorite benefits are the Omega 3s and antioxidants. This is a great pantry item to have.
Another great pantry item that is great for smoothies!!
Low Carb Syrup
After the first few weeks on the low carb diet, I realized that I needed something sweet to add to my breakfast plate. I do love a good eggs and bacon breakfast, but when I’m craving something sweet, this hits the spot. It’s great on top of fried ham, sausage, or bacon. It’s also great on my low carb pancakes, too!
Low Carb Pancake Mix
Before finding this amazing product, I had dabbled in some other homemade low carb pancake recipes. While the cream cheese pancakes are good, and the almond pancakes I made are ok too, this mix makes the best substitute for the real deal!
Atkins Dark Chocolate Royale Protein Shake
I have a protein shake at least once a day, sometimes twice. It’s an easy way to get a great boost of protein, which equals energy and staving off the hunger. This flavor is my favorite, but I also love the french vanilla and the cookies and cream. I included a link to this product, so you could see it, but I’ll be honest with you, this one is much cheaper in the store.
Atkins Harvest Trail Bars
I use a variety of Atkins bars, but these are my favorite. They don’t have as much protein as some of the other bars, but I love the flavor, and I love that they are natural and do not have the added sugar alcohols. Similar to the shakes, I find these much cheaper in the store, so hopefully you can too!
Hershey’s Sugar Free Chocolate Chips
I’m noticing a theme here for my favorite products being sweet, which is funny to me. I don’t normally have a sweet tooth. Before the low carb lifestyle, I was always craving salty foods. I think because this diet is so rich in protein (meats, cheeses, eggs, etc), I find myself wanting to switch up my snacks to something sweet. The chocolate chips are perfect to add to your low carb pancake/waffle mix. Or, my favorite is some whipped cream topped with these chocolate chips. Another product that is probably cheaper in your grocery store if you can find it, but if not, order in bulk on Amazon.
Low Carb Grocery List
Alright, so those are just some of the low carb products I’m loving right. I also wanted to include for you my low carb grocery list. There are definitely low carb foods that are not on my list, but these are my personal necessities. For example, I’m not a huge fish eater, so I don’t keep that on my list. I will buy seafood when I’m in the mood for it, but it’s not a regular item. Remember to consider portion sizes too as you eat the items. While your portion size of bacon might be large (Yippee!), you can only have a small portion of peanuts or almonds for one serving of that snack. Also, please remember to check all labels before buying any item, and remember to compare similar products for price and quality. I left some blank lines for you to add on your own items too!
I hope that these product ideas and grocery list were helpful to you. I’d love to hear below if you’ve tried any of these products or have some of your own favorite low carb items! Feel free to drop any comments or questions in the comments below.
