It’s football season again!! I love this time of year. Not only is football a part of the comfy, cozy feeling of Fall, but it’s a great reason to have some family time.
I know not all women feel this way, but I love watching football! My husband and I have enjoyed football-watching weekends for many years now. But, maybe you are reading this and thinking the opposite. Maybe football-watching days bring you animosity, because you don’t find it very enjoyable. No worries, there’s still something here for you too! Keep reading for some fun ideas.
Since having kids, I admit, my football days are a little different, and I definitely get a bit less time to watch the game. But it’s all good! We still find a way to make football time fun for the whole family.
Here are a few ideas (and some free printables) for making football days fun for the whole family!
Get in the spirit with your wardrobe! (Affiliate links to outfits)
I love when the whole family is dressed up and ready to watch the big game. This is the outfit that O wore in previous seasons, and I can’t wait for her little sister to wear it this year:
If you don’t have a favorite team, maybe something like this would be perfect for you:
Make it a game!
The first free printable I’m including is fun for older kids and adults. Pick 5 games that you know are exciting ones for your family. You can do all college, all NFL, or even mix it up. You could even add in the game for a local high school, especially if you regularly go to the games.
- Print enough copies for each person playing.
- Write down the five games (team vs. team).
- Each person should circle who they think will win each game. Do this in pen or something that cannot be erased.
- When all games have been played, see who had the most wins correct on their game sheet!
I think this is fun do with older kids, or if you would rather, just you and your significant other. I also love the idea of having a fun (and free) prize involved. For the kids, maybe the winner gets out of a chore (like no dishes for the day or the week). For the adults, maybe the winner gets to sleep in one day that week while the other gets up with kids!
Tip – In case of a tie, I’m always a fan of good old rock-paper-scissors. Or have everyone roll a die or pick a card – highest wins. Hope you have fun with this one!
Plan activities for the kids!
During the big game, the adults want to enjoy watching the game. That is only possible if there are enough activities to keep the kids entertained. Here are a few ideas:
- Michelle, at Crafty Morning, has a fun fingerprint football craft.
- The Inspired Treehouse has a tutorial for DIY Game Day Pompoms.
- Here’s a printable helmet to decorate.
- Here’s another free printable from me! A football acrostic poem.
Hope you enjoyed these ideas to keep everyone excited and entertained on game day! Don’t forget to pin these ideas to save for later!
